Woodcock Limited is an emerging conservation organization dedicated to the welfare of the American woodcock. Founded in 2003, Woodcock Limited is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, with regional and state chapters of local, grassroots membership. We work with local, state and national organizations and agencies to create, restore and maintain woodcock habitat. As an international organization, we participate in habitat and species research and development, and we support and disseminate educational materials to increase the understanding of our favorite game bird.
Woodcock Limited is the only international organization dedicated solely to benefit the American woodcock. We focus on creating singing grounds as well as primary and secondary growth feeding and resting areas. Much of our work is focused on creating a mosaic of sustainable habitat for both a resident population as well as for migratory birds. Over 45 additional species also benefit from our work including the Ruffed grouse, wild turkey, Bobwhite quail, the Golden-winged warbler, and the whitetail deer.
As a relatively new conservation organization, Woodcock Limited has a need for new members. We are looking to form new chapters in states and provinces within the migratory corridors of the woodcock. We always have a need for volunteers to help with new member recruitment, fund raising, creating special events, and for field and research work across the range of the woodcock path. Please contact us to learn how you can get involved.
After several years of growth, logistical issues called for a restructuring of the Woodcock Limited organization. Woodcock Limited of Pennsylvania continued to carry on the work of the fledgling conservation group. After several years, the Board of Directors recognized the need for the organization to grow beyond the Keystone State. To meet this need, Woodcock Limited was relaunched in 2012 as an international organization and Woodcock Limited of Pennsylvania became the first chapter. Since then, Woodcock Limited has been headquartered in Central Pennsylvania and has grown steadily. The organization’s primary focus is to create a mosaic of sustainable habitat for the American woodcock in the states and provinces within the birds’ travel corridor.
Woodcock Limited has worked in conjunction with and in support of a number of conservation organizations. We believe that teamwork and pooling our talent is the best way to improve habitat and enhance species across a broad range. We’re proud to have worked with the Pennsylvania Game Commission, the National Wild Turkey Federation, Pheasants Forever, the Ruffed Grouse Society, the Boy Scouts of America, and Habitat 4 Wildlife, among others.
